Rowe, one of the nation's outstanding medical researchers and chairman and CEO of Aetna, was appointed chairman of the University of Connecticut Board of Trustees. Rowe, a medical doctor and a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, began his six-year term on the
Board this year. A former clinical fellow in research
at Harvard Medical School and past president of the
Mount Sinai Hospital and the Mount Sinai School of
Medicine, Rowe brings outstanding academic, medical
and corporate credentials to his new post.Denis J. Nayden, senior vice president financial services advisor for General Electric Co., has become a University Trustee. Nayden holds both undergraduate and MBA degrees from UConn. He is presently chairman of UConn's highly successful capital campaign and vice chairman of the School of Business Board of Overseers. A past chairman of the University's Downstate Initiative, Nayden was instrumental in helping the University establish its new campus in downtown Stamford. Thomas D. Ritter, the former Speaker of the Connecticut House of Representatives and a graduate of the UConn School of Law, has joined the University of Connecticut Board of Trustees. Ritter, a staunch advocate of public higher education, led the effort in the General Assembly to secure passage of UCONN 2000. He has recently served on the University of Connecticut Foundation Board of Directors. Ritter received a University Medal in 1999 and an honorary Doctor of Laws degree in 2001. |
