Align fundraising goals with University priorities. ![]() At the close of fiscal year 2003, more than $252 million, 84% of goal, had been raised. During the year, the University received an impressive $49.7 million in gifts and commitments. Since 1995, the University's endowment has grown from $50 million to nearly $210 million. In 2003, a new record high of 38,483 donors made financial gifts to the University, a 9% increase over the previous record high established in 2002. Connecticut Governor John G. Rowland and the General Assembly extended an endowment matching gift program that will provide an additional $115 million in state support through 2012. Since Campaign UConn began, private support has created 340 new endowments. Forty-eight endowments were established in 2003. Growth in the number of endowed chairs has been one of Campaign UConn's most notable achievements. Newly established chairs include the GE Capital Professor of Business and the Robert Cizik Chair in Manufacturing and Technology Management, the Lockean Distinguished Chair in Mental Health Education, the Janice and Rodney Reynolds Chair in Neurobiology, the Albert and Wilda Van Dusen Chair in Academic Medicine, and the Marianne E. Klewin Endowed Professorship in Engineering.. |
